Ioanna Angelopoulou is an Athens based choreographer and performer. She holds a Dance Teacher Diploma and a «Master of Arts in Choreography» from the "Palucca Hochschule für Tanz, Dresden" in Germany. In 2013 she won the Esther-Arnhold-Seligmann-Scholarship to participate in the American Dance Festival-International Choreographer’s Residency Program. She did an internship at the “The Forsythe Company” in Bockenheimer Depot in Frankfurt and at the “Sasha Waltz & Guests company” in Deutsche Oper Berlin (Guest Programme for young foreign theatre people). She collaborated among others with Nari-Franzioni Ubidanza, Frédéric Flamand, Jesse Zaritt, Kettly Noël (Documenta 2017), Maria Kolliopoulou, Mariela Nestora, Iris Karayan, Vaso Giannakopoulou (Athens & Epidaurus Festival). She showed her first piece in 2016 in the “3rd Young Choreographers Festival” in Onassis Cultural Center in Athens and she took part in the first international and interdisciplinary Symposium for Dance "Engagement: Philosophy and Dance" in „Texas State University “in Austin, Texas. She presented her next piece with the title “Effigies” in Artiria Athens - performing arts lab in 2018 and in “Istanbul Fringe Festival” in 2019 with the financial support of the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports. She participated in “Zoom In” an Atelier on ‘Dance and Craft’, organized by Duncan Dance Research Center and EDN (European Dancehouse Network) in Athens, together with the instrument maker Sébastien Seixas. She is also a graduate of the department of Rural and Surveying Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, as well as of the Interdepartmental Postgraduate Studies Program “Protection, Conservation and Restoration of Architectural Monuments” of the Department of Architects AUTH.
