Ioanna Angelopoulou is an Athens based choreographer and performer. She graduated from the German School of Thessaloniki. She holds a Dance Teacher Diploma and a Master of Arts in Choreography from the Palucca Hochschule für Tanz, Dresden in Germany. In 2013 she won the Esther-Arnhold-Seligmann-Scholarship to participate in the American Dance Festival-International Choreographer’s Residency Program. She did an internship at The Forsythe Company in Bockenheimer Depot in Frankfurt and at the Academy of the Arts in the Performing Arts Archive in Berlin (Erasmus + Traineeship). She is also a recipient of the grant of the shadowing program for young theater professionals form the Goethe Institut (Sasha Waltz & Quests Company | German Opera, Berlin). She collaborated among others with Jesse Zaritt, Kettly Noël (Documenta 2017), Syndesmos Chorou (Athens & Epidaurus Festival). She showed her first piece in 2016 in the 3rd Young Choreographers Festival in Onassis Cultural Center in Athens and she took part in the first international and interdisciplinary Symposium for Dance Engagement: Philosophy and Dance in Texas State University in Austin, Texas. She presented her next piece with the title Effigies in Artiria Athens – performing arts lab in 2018 and in Istanbul Fringe Festival in 2019 with the financial support of the Greek Ministry of Culture & Sports. She participated in 2019 in Zoom In! an Atelier on Dance and Craft, organized by Duncan Dance Research Center and EDN (European Dancehouse Network) in Athens. She showed her next piece with the title Re-pose in 2021 in locus Athens with the financial support of the Greek Ministry of Culture & Sports and Flux Laboratory Athens and the piece with the title The room is filled with light in Bageion Hotel Athens with the financial support of the Greek Ministry of Culture & Sports. She presented her research project on motif notation Notating Dance or Dancing the Notation in Goethe Institut Athen in 2022 with the financial support the Greek Ministry of Culture & Sports. Currently she is studying at the Joint Postgraduate Studies Program in Semiotics, Culture and Communication of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She is also a graduate of the Interdepartmental Postgraduate Studies Program Protection, Conservation and Restoration of Architectural Monuments of the Department of Architects of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki
